Introduction to Dr. Horace E. Payne PhD, PhD, PhD, MSc, MSc, BSc, AAS, 

Hebrew 11:1:

Dr. Payne was born to George Edward Payne and Ella Robena Payne at the Montego Bay Hospital in the parish of St James, Jamaica, on Tuesday February 17th, 1948.  He grew up in the little town of Bickersteth eleven miles from Montego Bay. 

Dr. Payne has four sisters, Ms. Bernice Payne-Thompson,  Ms. Jean Caroline Payne,  Ms. Laura Elizabeth Payne-Gauntlet, and  Ms. Joan Evelyn Payne-Gordon.    

Dr. Payne attended the Bickersteth Infant School from age 4, 1952 and then the Bickersteth Primary School from (1953) age 5 until age eleven (1959). In Jamaica there was on opportunity given to Primary School kids to take what is called the Common Entrance Examination and because of passing this examination he was given the opportunity to attend a Secondary School and the rest is history….

 “One of the first talents which the Lord gave me is the ability to draw and paint pictures. I did a number of drawings and paintings of scenery and gave them all away to ministerial guest of the Rev H G Williams while I was living at the Presbyterian Manse some of these guests were from the United States and other foreign countries. I enjoyed this ability and was always drawing and painting pictures, there were other hobbies which I enjoyed among them were stamp collecting, coin collecting. I also enjoyed running. I played football (soccer) and cricket while attending Cornwall College. I enjoyed Chemistry (and even had my own chemistry lab at home), Physics, English language and literature, world history and geography, geometry, arithmetic, algebra, art, wood, and metal working, Latin and Spanish.” 

  Dr. Payne in his own words, “I met Shirley after I moved to Poughkeepsie in 1987 and again, we went to the same church the Trinity Temple SDA Church. I was married on Sunday October 9th, 1988, to Shirley at the Trinity Temple SDA Church. I have three stepchildren Kimberly Thomas who is now Mrs. Kimberly Mclean, Sheila Thomas, Scot Thomas and later adopted three children Natasha Marie Payne, Le Keshia Payne, Natasha Antoinette Payne. We have nine grandchildren…”

“During my time living in Poughkeepsie I was involved in every department of the church I attended Trinity Temple SDA church on South Bridge Street in Poughkeepsie where I was a member for 29 years. After going there from July 10th, 1987, I was nominated as Treasurer for 5 years, Elder for 29 years, Sabbath School Teacher for 29 years, Finance Committee Chairman for 5 years, Board Member for 29 Years, Building Committee, Personal Ministry, and many other departments. I spent most of my life in Poughkeepsie, New York for 29 years. I also refused to work on the Sabbath, so I had a lot of challenges on these jobs because I was always required to work on the Sabbath and when I refused to work, I continually got into trouble which leaded into losing the job.”  Dr. Payne in life and in death was as is  a complete believer Seventh Day-Adventist 28 Fundamental Belief: 1. Dr. Horace Edward Payne PhDs, PhD, PhD, MSc, MSc, BSc, AAS, attained three PhDs, two MSC degrees, a, BSC, and a, AAS, degrees.  Dr. Payne said, “ I was blessed by the Lord Jesus Christ with seven degrees: a PhD in Statistics, a PhD in Business Administration, a PhD in Industrial Engineering, a Master of Science in Finance, a Master of Science in International Business, a Bachelor of Science in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, and an Associate of Applied Science in Electronics.”

Dr. Payne used his education to serve both God and Humanity nobly .  He worked at Jamaica Telephone Company - Montego Bay, St James, Jamaica, West Indies; as a University Associate Professor; for IBM in varying capacities as;  “manufacturing engineer”,  “development engineer”, “component engineer”, and “equipment engineer”;  after leaving IBM, he then worked for Ultra Tech in Stony Point NY, and Muller Phipps Incorporated (MPI) where I installed machines and wrote over 500 manuals. Dr. Payne Jobs afforded him opportunities to travel nationally as well as internationally to the Republics of China, Dubai, etc. 

Lastly Dr. Payne was a proud member of the Seventh Day-Adventist Church where he served, as Deacon, Elder, Treasurer, Sabbath school Teacher for over thirty-five-years.  Dr. Payne also served as an Executive Director for Final Shout Ministry Inc. until the time of his death, August 14, 2021, and as Pastor Barnaby's trusted confidante and friend. Oh how, we truly, missed and love Dr. Payne, but we have the hope that we will see him again according to, the Bible, First-Thessalonians 4:13-18
